Happy Father’s Day Handmade Card | Spotlight on Nature Stamps & Dies

A Happy Father’s Day card using Stampin’ Up! Spotlight on Nature Stamps & Die set

The season of planting, seeding, camping and being able to just spend more time outside in nature is finally here!

In June our family has birthdays to celebrate. This year my husband’s birthday falls on Father’s Day. We look forward to celebrating this day and we remember our fathers who have both passed on into glory. It is good to reflect on the things they taught us and how much they loved us in their special ways.

This month my thoughts have gone towards masculine cards. These could be used for any occasion. Let’s celebrate the guys in our lives. Are you ready to see my card and what I created?

A Father’s Day handmade card using Spotlight on Nature Stamps & Dies

Happy Father's Day handmade card using Spotlight on Nature stamps and die set

I chose the Spotlight on Nature set. It was on my wish list from the first time I saw the new Annual Catalogue. I am not disappointed.

For the card base I used Basic White Thick Cardstock (#159229) measuring 5 ½ X 8 ½ and scored at 4 ¼.

I mounted the leaves, dotage and the line stamps from the Spotlight on Nature cling stamp set (#163579) onto clear blocks B (#117147) & D (#118485). I stamped the leaves using Old Olive ink pad (#147090) randomly on the right side of the card base going a little over the halfway mark. I did some going upside down as well trying not to overlap the leaves. I then took the line stamp and used Crumb Cake ink pad (#147116) and filled in some spaces. I did stamp over some of the leaves or stems.

The next stamp was the dotage and I used Misty Moonlight ink pad (#153118) by inking the stamp, stamping off on scrap and then onto the card in places where there was white space. You will know when you’ve added enough of each of these stamped images to your card. It’s fun to stop and admire what you’ve created. A collage!

I had a piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock (#153081) cut 2” X 5 ½” and a piece of Designer Series Paper from the 6” X 6” Neutrals paper pack and chose the Misty Moonlight pattern (#163773) measuring 1 ¾” X 5 ½” and glued this to the cardstock using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (#110755) leaving ¼” of the Misty Moonlight cardstock showing. This was then adhered to the left side of the card base with a very small amount of white cardstock appearing on the left fold.

I stamped the Happy Father’s Day sentiment from the Bistro Burger cling stamp set (#163648) using Pecan Pie ink pad (#161665). I used the Spotlight in Nature dies (#163580) to cut out the sentiment that I stamped on Basic White cardstock (#159276).

I cut a piece of Polka Dot Trim (#163465) about 9” long and looped it over the middle of the card. I taped it down with scotch tape so it held where I wanted it to be. I put Stampin’ Dimensionals (#104430) on the back of the sentiment and adhered it to the card. To finish off the card I added a dragonfly from Adhesive-backed Dragonflies & Birds (#162743) (one of my favorite embellishments) to the sentiment and then placed three of the Adhesive-backed Swirl Dots (#163464) around the sentiment to form a triangle.

On the inside of the card, I stamped in Pecan Pie ink (#161665) “Here’s to a Great Guy!” from the Burger Bistro stamp set and then stamped over that in Old Olive ink (#147090) second generation (ink and stamp off on scrap paper and then stamp on the card) the Leaf from the Spotlight on Nature cling stamp set (#163579).

The largest two dies of the Spotlight on Nature do not fit in the Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (#150673) but the other ten dies do. The one I used for this card fit! Otherwise, you can use the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (#149653) for all the dies.

Have you ever thought of making a collage with your stamps?

It is a fun technique. You can use scrap paper to practice. It’s relaxing and the results will astound you. Give it a try!

  1. Beautiful card, Dolores! Nice mix of colors, and I like the idea of stamping a collage! The Burger Bistro set is nice for the sentiments alone! Thanks for sharing your creation!
