The perfect card template to use extra cardstock or Designer Series Paper for either a portrait or landscape handmade card.
Christmas is a special season in the cold of the winter here in Canada. It’s fun to see the lights decorating homes and businesses, and the light shows in some parks in our area. The lights remind me of the Lord, Jesus coming as a baby to bring us hope and salvation. He is the Light as we read in the gospel of John Chapter 1 verse 9 “The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.”
May your hearts be open to accept and believe in Him. His kingdom is near! May you and your loved ones have an amazing Christmas season.
If you have a few moments to craft alone or with others this season, may this Card Template #12 give you some inspiration or a challenge to use it with the supplies that you have on hand. It’s a great template for any card! I wonder how it would work as a sketch for a scrapbook page.

I have used a Basic White thick cardstock measuring 5 ½” X 8 ½” scored at 4 ¼” for each of my examples. Coloured cardstock can be used for the card bases, if you wish. Consider the designer series paper or other colours of cardstock you might use and choose accordingly. Each of the main pieces can be cardstock, designer series paper or even use an embossing folder to give some texture.
Card Example #1: All the best – Peace on Earth & Winter Scenes
I decided to use these two stamp sets (Peace on Earth and Winter Scenes) as one has only sentiments and the other only pictures to stamp, and colour if you choose to. The sentiment I wanted worked perfect for the scene I chose as well. I can see my husband wanting to climb this mountain for an adventure!

The card base is Basic White Thick Cardstock (8 ½ X 5 ½ and scored at 4 ¼). I used the green DSP from Floral Charm and cut it at 4 ¼ X 3 ¼ and then ran it through the Forever Plaid Embossing Folder. I glued this to the front of the card trying to keep even spaces on each border.
I cut the 5 X 1 ¼ piece from Crumb Cake cardstock and stamped the “All the best in your new adventure” sentiment in Black Memento ink on the bottom right. I also stamped “Wishing You” in Black Memento on a scrap of Crumb Cake cardstock and used the Three Banner Punch. A piece of DSP from the Neutrals 6X6 was cut 4 X 1 ½.
I stamped the Mountain and Deer scene on Basic White with Memento ink and then coloured it with Blends. I chose Old Olive, Lemon Lolly and Cloud Cover to add a bit of colour to the scene. I then cut this out with a circle die from the Stylish Shapes. Assembling the card went quickly once all the pieces were ready. I glued the sentiment piece near the bottom of the green DSP and then the Neutrals striped DSP on top towards the left. I added the scene with dimensionals so that it covered the intersect of the other pieces. I also added dimensionals to the “Wishing You” sentiment and placed it on the top right hand of the green DSP. The final touch was adding three green gems from Low-Profile Sparkle Dots.
This card could be used for a retirement, change of jobs or homes or even a graduation. The scene could be exchanged for something else, but I loved how this turned out. Does it make you think of someone in your life? I believe this would be a great encouragement card for anyone as life is an adventure!
Card Example #2: Thinking of You – Friendly Foliage
This bundle, Friendly Foliage, is in our new packaging for stamps and dies. They definitely can be put together in one pouch and take up much less storage. The red rubber stamps are being phased out as there is a shortage of material for making them. A change in the stamping industry as we move into only Photopolymer stamp sets. The Friendly Foliage stamps have 6 sentiments and 4 leaf stamps. They make beautiful and simple cards! All you really need is stamp, ink and paper (and maybe a die)!

This card is landscape and I turned the sketch 180 degrees! Love it! For the 4 ¼ X 3 ¼ piece I used Basic White cardstock and used the beautiful Distressed Tile embossing folder. I glued this onto the card base keeping the borders even. I cut a piece of two-toned Crumb Cake cardstock and used the lighter side, stamping the sentiment “Thinking of You” in Secret Sea ink to the edge of the paper. This was glued on top of the Embossed piece and near the top. The 4 X 1 ½ piece of cardstock was cut using a piece of Darling Duckling. And this was popped up on the right side of the card with dimensionals.
The larger leaf stamp was stamped on Basic White cardstock using Mossy Meadow ink and then die cut with the two dies from the Friendly Foliage Dies. This was glued onto the Darling Duckling cardstock. Three Darling Duckling gems from the 2025-2027 In Color Flat Pearls were added on the Crumb Cake cardstock piece.
This could be an encouragement card, a sympathy card or a birthday card. I have enjoyed using this set and know there is great potential for it messages and the artwork.
Card Example #3: Thank you – Petals of Beauty & Label Me Grateful
It was fun to play with the stamps and do two generation stamping with parts of the flowers. The ink colours I used were Flirty Flamingo, Petunia Pop, Shaded Spruce, Summer Splash and Secret Sea. For the cardbase I used Basic White Thick Cardstock (8 ½ X 5 ½ and scored at 4 ¼) and using the small cluster of flowers stamped around the edge of the card. I stamped off the ink on a scrap paper first and then a couple of times on the cardbase, to give different effects of the ink. I didn’t want it full strength.

For the three flowers, I used the smaller single flower and I stamped them in Flirty Flamingo and Petunia Pop with the more solid stamp being stamped off once before stamping. This created the two tone on the flowers. The larger leaves were stamped in Shaded Spruce and the finer leaves in Summer Splash both in full strength ink. The flowers and leaves were die cut using the Petal of Beauty dies. I also cut out two other sprigs of leaves in Summer Splash cardstock.
The Botanical Textures DSP is a Basic Black and Basic White set of papers and I used two different patterns from this paper pack. One measuring 4 ¼ X 3 ¼ and another solid piece 4 X 1 ½. The larger piece was adhered to the cardbase. I also cut a piece of Basic Black cardstock measuring 1 ¼ X 5 and stamped “Thank you” from Label Me Grateful with Versamark ink and embossed with White powder. This was on the right side of the paper. This was glued on top of the DSP.
I then arranged the flowers and leaves with dimensionals and glue to the black splotted piece of DSP. This was then added to the card with dimensionals to the left side of the card. I added two Summer Splash gems 2024-2026 In Color Resin Dots.
I love how the black makes the colours pop. It’s a cheery card that would relay a heart-felt thank you! This might be a lovely example of a card you could create to thank those who will bless you with some gifts this season.
Bonus Card: O Holy Night – A Child is Born
I couldn’t close my blog in December without a Christmas card for you! I hope that this will bless you and remind you of the reason we celebrate Christmas. There is a beautiful nativity stamp set this year called A Child is Born. It includes 5 lovely sentiments, stars, sheep, a cradle and Joseph, Mary and baby Jesus. This set is a keeper!

As I write this it has been discounted in price and is on the Last Chance list. So it won’t be a carryover to next year, sadly. But those of us that have purchased it can still use it and we must!! So on with the card…
I used Secret Sea and Cloud Cover for this card. The card base is Basic White Thick Cardstock (8 ½ X 5 ½ and scored at 4 ¼). Peaceful Garden DSP with the little stars measures 4 ¼ X 3 ¼ and is glued to the card base. I cut a piece of Secret Sea measuring 5 X 1 ¼ and stamped the star with Whisper White ink and then glued this in portrait (turning the template 90 degrees clockwise) on top of the Secret Sea stars DSP.
I cut a piece of Cloud Cover cardstock 1 ½ X 4 and stamped in Secret Sea ink the manger and “O Holy Night” and using dimensionals placed it just under the stamped stars. On a scrap piece of Cloud Cover I stamped the small sheep in Secret Sea ink and the fuzzy cut it out and glued it to the bottom right corner of the DSP. I attached two Secret Sea gems from the 2025-2027 In Color Flat Pearls just above the sentiment and one at the bottom left of the DSP to finish off the card.
