A versatile card template that can be used for both portrait and landscape handmade cards.

This card template #11 can be used either portrait or landscape. I made all the samples in portrait. Do what you would like with your supplies and consider what sentiments you want to share with the recipient of the cards. This may determine which works best, portrait or landscape. I had lots of fun selecting my stamp supplies and I am so thrilled with how each card turned out. They filled me with joy!

Each card example shows you a different way to use this card template.

For the three sample cards, I used a Basic White thick cardstock measuring 5 ½” X 8 ½” scored at 4 ¼”. Coloured cardstock can be used for the card bases, if you wish. Consider the designer series paper or other colours of cardstock you might use and choose accordingly. If you need some help or suggestions, let me know!

Card Example #1: Happy Winter – Snowflake Kisses

In this Snowflake Kisses bundle the stamp set only has sentiments, but there are lovely die cut pieces to decorate with -many choices of snowflakes. November seemed like the perfect month to showcase this bundle of products as we know winter is coming!

The card base is Basic White Thick Cardstock (8 ½ X 5 ½ and scored at 4 ¼). I chose a piece of Gold Foil and die cut out the snowflakes. With the Regal Distressed Patterns Specialty DSP I cut 2 pieces measuring 1 ¾ X 3 of the white and gold stripped sheet. I glued the snowflakes onto this DSP. I cut 2 pieces of Basic White Cardstock 1 ¾ square.

Using the Snowflake Kisses stamp set I stamped the sentiments with Versamark ink and then applied Gold Metallic embossing powder on them and heated them with the Heat Tool. It’s always amazing to see this process with the powder melting. A great effect!

These four pieces, I glued to a 4 X 5 ¼ mat of Azure Afternoon cardstock as the card template shows. I used dimensionals to attach it to the cardbase. Inside the card I stamped the sentiment, “sending warm hugs” with Azure Afternoon ink.

I love how this card is so cheery and let’s the recipient know they are loved, making the cold winter time something we can share together even when we are not near to each other.

Card Example #2: Celebrate – Beautiful Motifs

This bundle, Beautiful Motifs, is part of the Beautiful Gallery Suite Collection and has some great variety with sentiments, designs, flowers and foliage. The Designer Paper is interesting with some scenes that could be framed just as they are or stamped on as well. Other pieces of the paper are flowers and I chose the one that is featuring the Cloud Cover and Secret Sea colours. The Beautiful Motifs stamp set has great sentiments for different occasions. I think this is a keeper!

For this card I used, from the Beautiful Gallery DSP, the Cloud Cover Rose piece and cut it 3 ½ X 4 ¾ and then on the 3 ½ side cut it at 1 ¾ (in half) and then cut it again at 1 ¾ to end up with a square 1 ¾“. I then flipped the square over and used the other side for the card.

I attached these pieces to a piece of Cloud Cover cardstock measuring 4 ⅛ X 5 ⅜ to give it a smaller border on the Basic White Card base. I also made an even border with the DSP as I glued it to the Mat piece.

With a scrap of Secret Sea cardstock I die cut the flower piece from the Beautiful Motifs Dies. I glued this placing it over top the DSP in the middle of the card.

On a scrap of Basic Beige cardstock, I stamped the sentiment “Celebrate” in Secret Sea ink and laid it at an angle across the card the whole distance of the mat. I glued this down and then trimmed it on the sides. The final touch was adding three of the 2025-2027 In Color Flat Pearls, 2 in Secret Sea on the bottom right, and one Cloud Cover on the top left near the flower.

The Cloud Cover mat was then attached with dimensionals to the cardbase. Inside the card I stamped in Secret Sea “wishing you Love & Happiness that lasts a lifetime“.

I think this would be a really special Wedding or Anniversary card. Simple, but elegant. Wouldn’t you agree?

Card Example #3: Sending the Healing Power of Love – Prairie Grass

This stand alone Prairie Grass stamp set is special with meaningful sentiments. The grasses are beautiful and can be used with watercolor techniques or stamping them directly onto Designer Series paper. And that’s what I did for this next card.

I used a piece of DSP from the Thoughtful Journey papers and cut it 3 ½ X 4 ¾ and then cut the piece into 1 ¾ X 4 ¾ and then cut off one end for the 2 square pieces measuring 1 ¾ X 1 ¾ and flipped them over. I loved the other side just as much as the top side. The top side pieces I actually taped with repositioning tape so that they were like I hadn’t cut them yet!

Using the Black Memento ink I stamped the largest grass silhouette from the Prairie Grass stamp set positioning it where I wanted it. I then removed the tape from the back. I was happy with the results. One of those wonder moments!

I then switched up the positioning of the pieces and glued them to Blackberry Bliss cardstock measuring 4 X 5 ¼ and then attached this to Pretty Peacock cardstock measuring 4 ⅛ X 5 ⅜. I glued it down to the Basic White card base.

I stamped “sending the healing power of love” on Basic White cardstock and used the 3rd smallest circle from the Stylish Shapes dies. I wrapped linen thread around my fingers and then attached it to the back of the circle with tape, and attached it to the top right square with dimensionals.

The Charming Shimmer Faceted Dots were the perfect embellishment that I placed on the bottom right panel. Inside the card using Secret Sea ink I stamped “You’re not alone I’m here for you” and one of the smaller grass stamps. I am pleased with how this sample card turned out. I love the sentiments and how the colors work together in the DSP.

This card template is so simple but has such potential to change it up and add your own creativity too.
